The consortium receives funding for a research project on alignment faking

Several members of the consortium received joint funding for a project on alignment faking from Coefficient Giving. This project will develop, validate, and scale robust black-box as well as some white-box protocols for detecting, understanding, and steering alignment-faking intentions in large language models. Joint workshop with AI Startup Company Synthbee

December 11, 2025

Several members of the consortium attended a workshop co-organized with the AI Startup Company “Synthbee” near Miami, FL. It was titled “Intentions, Agents, & Beings Workshop” and included sessions on the definition of intentions, AI architectures for elucidating intentions, intentions and ethics, and industry-academia collaborations. The workshop culminated in an episode of The AI XR Podcast (here).

McGovern Foundation Grant

Our group has received a $10,000 grant from the McGovern Training Program in Trusted Artificial Intelligence. Led by principal investigators Uri Maoz, Aaron Schurger, and Hillard Kaplan, the project is titled Workshop on Intentions and Trust in AI: Support for Training in Trusted AI for Chapman Students and Videography.

Early-career worldwide competition

Estes Fund and the APS

We were awarded additional funding from the Estes Fund and the APS, which will enable us to open our workshop on intentions and AI to a small number of early-career investigators from around the world. More information about how to apply for this funding will be published soon.

Intentions and AI workshop

Under the leadership of Sagi Perel from our group, our initiative received funding from Google that we will use to host a workshop on various aspects of intentions & AI. The workshop will run from the evening of June 1 until midday on June 4. Details will follow.
