Gideon Yaffe

Gideon Yaffe is the Wesley Newcomb Hohfeld Professor of Jurisprudence and Professor of Philosophy and Psychology at Yale. His work concerns a variety of issues about the nature of criminal responsibility. He investigates this philosophically and through collaborative empirical projects with neuroscientists and psychologists. The nature of intention, and its role in responsible conduct, is a central object of study in his work.

A crucial question that must be answered, then, concerns whether AI systems have intentions and how we can determine what their intentions are.”
