Harvard University

Gabriel Kreiman is a computational neuroscientist at Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Research in his lab focuses on developing artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms inspired by our understanding of neural circuits, neuroanatomy, and cognitive science and also using these algorithms as computational models of brain function. Critical to these efforts is the notion of ensuring that intentions in AI algorithms are aligned with human goals and values. He directs the Brains, Minds and Machines summer school and he teaches a class at Harvard on Biological and Artificial Intelligence. Questions about human-AI alignment and intentions feature prominently in his published work, collaborations, and classes.

In time, we will coexist with another species, one made entirely in silico. Wouldn’t it be nice if their intentions were aligned with human intentions?
